Pilates offers a whole host of benefits and application options for working with the nervous system, be it consciously and or unconsciously.
This can be targeted neural stimulation, retraining, patterning, toning down, all the way through to applications to manage and improve specific neural conditions and disease factors.
Understanding the nervous system physiology, functions and interactions is of enormous benefit for Pilates teachers and lets us see how we can facilitate greater programming outcomes for clients.
This workshop will open up the neural system and explore how we can maximise outcomes for specific client needs through every day programming, cueing and applications.
Andrew has been deeply immersed in the nervous system through his clinical studies, alongside an extensive Pilates teaching and educating career, and puts these modalities together seamlessly for efficient, effective applications in the Pilates studio and group class environments.
Early bird pricing is available before 14 April.
Learn progressions and sequencing to add to your Matwork teaching and self-mastery. Andrew offers creative, structured progressions and variations that are underpinned with purpose and biomechanical efficiency, and according to The PIC System of programming for Matwork.
Early bird pricing is available before 14 April.
Movement training has been shown to be highly effective for reducing pain, improving function, and providing ongoing management of the sacroiliac joints (SIJ). In particular the Pilates Method repertoire and apparatus is uniquely beneficial for restoring and maintaining efficient SIJ function.
In this workshop Andrew you help you deepen your understanding of the structure and function of the SIJ, explore common symptoms and presentations, and learn strategies for working with SIJ issues and conditions. Highly practical, this workshop provides repertoire and programming sequences that contribute to stability with appropriate mobility of the joints.
You will learn how to effectively reduce symptoms and progress clients with both matwork and apparatus exercise, integrating pre-Pilates and Pilates repertoire, and with a focus on specific muscular sling patterning.
Early bird pricing is available before 14 April.
Work through a strong intermediate+ level class applying variations and progressions to help achieve greater strength, range, control and power. Pilates ITC is proud to present Helen New, Master Scolio-Pilates® Instructor and Principal Educator for Australia to deliver Modules 1 & 2 of the Scolio-Pilates® Professional Certification Program in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney in 2024.
This 3-day course was a sell out success in 2023 and is back by popular demand for 2024 having received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback about how valuable, informative and practical the course is for Pilates teachers and/or allied health practitioners.
Read on for all the details about the Modules themselves and register now to avoid the disappointment of missing out on the opportunity to specialise in Scoliosis within the Pilates rehabilitation context.
This course is a building block and lays the foundation for the Scolio-Pilates® Module 2: The Professional Seminar. You will receive a strong base in the anatomy of scoliosis to help you understand what is happening under the skin that creates the changes we see and experience with scoliosis on the surface and with movement. With this understanding, you will be better equipped to make the best scoliosis specific exercise choices.
Topics to be covered include:
– What is scoliosis? Who it affects and its effects on the systems of the body
– Experience scoliosis! What it feels like to do Pilates with scoliosis
– Anatomy of Scoliosis
– Understanding functional v structural scoliosis
– Defining the convexities and concavities
– Theories and laws of movement that apply to scoliosis
– The first 5 exercises for scoliosis
PDP Approved: PAA 8-points
MODULE 2
Prerequisite: Module 1
We will dive deeper into understanding the anatomy of scoliosis and use that understanding to define the curves of scoliosis (3, 4 and thoraco-lumbar curves). Once we define the curves we can begin to understand how to correct those curves towards neutral. We use scoliosis specific corrections and scoliosis specific exercises to aid us in bringing our clients towards a more balanced system.
The scoliosis specific exercises begin with corrections in the basic positions of prone, supine, side-lying, seated and standing. Once the corrections are applied in the basic positions, we add movement to these corrections either on the mat or with the assistance of the Pilates equipment. Come learn why Scolio-Pilates®, a form of Pilates that allows for modifications to assist the client with scoliosis in the Pilates studio, is now being used by children’s hospitals, physical therapy clinics and Pilates studios worldwide to help with the management of scoliosis.
PDP Approved: PAA 14-points
* Reach out if you have previously attended Module 1 and you would like to only register for Module 2 separately, otherwise Modules 1 & 2 must be attended and registered together.
